Filing a Complaint or Grievance

Under the 2024 UC Anti-Discrimination Policy, students, staff, faculty members, visitors and volunteers can file complaints of discrimination through the Office of Equity and Equal Protection.

You may file a report using the online portal, and someone in the Office of Equity & Equal Protection will reach out to you to schedule an appointment to discuss your rights and options..

Confidentiality

Information related to discrimination consultations and complaints is shared only on a business need-to-know basis. Confidentiality is maintained whenever possible with regard to consultations and complaints. However, complete confidentiality is not always possible.

Retaliation

Retaliation against persons who request reasonable employment accommodations, file complaints of discrimination, participate in an investigation, or oppose unlawful employment practices is prohibited by federal and state law and university policy. Employees and applicants for employment  who believe they have been retaliated against are encouraged to report the retaliatory actions to the Office of Equity & Equal Protection (equity@ucsc.edu)
